OC.20 Archiving Purposes in the Public Interest

 

 

More specific provisions:

 

Art. 6 II: "Member States may maintain or introduce more specific provisions [...] with regard to processing for compliance with points (c) and (e) of paragraph 1 by determining more precisely specific requirements [...] including for other specific processing situations as provided for in Chapter IX." ► Art. 89 is in Chapter IX.

 

 

Derogations from data subjects' rights:

 

Art. 89 III: "Where personal data are processed for archiving purposes in the public interest, Union or Member State law may provide for derogations from the rights referred to in Articles 1516181920 and 21 [...] in so far as such rights are likely to render impossible or seriously impair the achievement of the specific purposes, and such derogations are necessary for the fulfilment of those purposes."
