CO.30 Humanitarian Purposes

 

Various recitals mention, by way of example, that the processing of personal data may also serve humanitarian purposes:

 

Rec. 46 (3) GDPR: „[…] humanitarian purposes, including for monitoring epidemics and their spread or in situations of humanitarian emergencies, in particular in situations of natural and man-made disasters.”

 

Rec. 73 (1) GDPR: “[…]protection of human life especially in response to natural or manmade disasters […] humanitarian purposes."

 

Rec. 112 (5) GDPR: “[…] international humanitarian organisation […] with a view to accomplishing a task incumbent under the Geneva Conventions or to complying with international humanitarian law applicable in armed conflicts […].”

 

Rec. 158 (3) GDPR: “[…] providing specific information related to the political behaviour under former totalitarian state regimes, genocide, crimes against humanity, in particular the Holocaust, or war crimes […].”
