P.16 Wellbeing and Economic Progress

 

The fact that data processing increases prosperity, enhances the quality of life, and increases the efficiency and productivity of the economy is expressed only sporadically in the GDPR:

 

Rec. 2 (2): "This Regulation is intended to contribute […] to economic and social progress […] and to the well-being of natural persons."

 

Rec. 4 (1): "The processing of personal data should be designed to serve mankind."
